50 years with King Brothers Foodservice

David Barton, 66, a director of King Brothers Foodservice, has retired after 50 years with the company, based on Orton Waterville, Peterborough.

Barton (pictured) joined the wholesaler fresh out of school in 1969, becoming general manager within five years and a director in 1991.

The operator, a member of Fairway Foodservice, has a turnover of around £6 million, supplying pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops and cafés in the surrounding area as well as parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Beds, Bucks, Northants and Leicestershire.

Fellow director Martin King said: “David has been a mainstay of the business throughout its eras as a poultry specialist, frozen food supplier and the modern-day wholesaler it is now.

“He has worked with no less than four generations of the King family and his experience has been a vital factor in our growth.”
