Bestway directors increase their wealth

Bestway Group chairman Sir Anwar Pervez OBE increased his wealth by £439 million last year to £3.53 billion, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

The income of his nephew Zameer Choudrey, the company’s CEO, also rose – from £548 million to £1.76 billion –while Younus Sheikh, chairman of Bestway Wholesale, lifted his capital from £189 million to £609 million.

Of the 40 wealthiest Asians, Sir Anwar, who is assessed on his C&C/wholesale interests, is placed at No. 6 and Choudrey (C&C/wholesale and the Well Pharmacy chain) at No. 12.

Bestway’s banking and cement businesses in Pakistani were not taken into account for the Rich List compilation.
