Diageo confirms less involvement with Unitas head office

Leading drinks supplier Diageo, whose brands include Smirnoff, Baileys and Guinness, is to have less involvement with Unitas Wholesale’s head office, although its dealings with member wholesalers remain unchanged.

The lessening of ties with the group involves funding and new product launches.

A Diageo spokesperson told Cash & Carry Management: “We would like to thank all the Unitas members for the support they have provided over the years (also under both the previous Landmark and Today’s set-ups).

“We are committed to investing in the trade and, following a review, have decided to support the independent channel directly.

“We believe this will deliver greater benefit to our customers over the next few years.”

Unitas Wholesale declined to comment on the Diageo situation after being approached by Cash & Carry Management.
