Landmark Wholesale has launched a range of frozen cakes and traybakes for foodservice operators under the group’s Caterers Kitchen brand.
The supplier is Cake, the Glasgow-based bakery owned by Lomond – The Wholesale Food Co, a group member.
“The coffee shop, garden centre and café sector is the fastest growing in foodservice and shows no sign of slowing down, so introducing a range to satisfy demand in this area was an obvious choice,” said Les Mohammed, Landmark foodservice controller.
Meanwhile, Lomond has launched two sandwich concepts – Eat Around the World and Most Wanted – to help caterers produce food-to-go options for their customers.
Eat Around the World includes 14 different sandwich options, including The Aussie (pictured), The Cuban, Mexican Chicken and Posh Bacon and Egg. It was inspired by a trip to New York by Lomond’s managing director Sam Henderson.
Most Wanted is a range of 15 filled baguettes aimed at entry-level retailers and foodservice operators who want to branch out into food-to-go or improve their offering. With an rsp of £2.75, the range features classic combinations as Tuna Mayo, Gammon and Cheddar Ploughmans, Salami and Emmental Cheese and Firecracker Chicken with Rocket.
Both ranges come with crib sheets containing step-by-step guides on how to put the sandwiches together, images of each stage, nutritional data and essential allergen information. “This will equip any modest caterer or entry-level retailer with the quality, presentation and technical back-up to compete with the multiples that are crowding the high streets,” said Henderson.
“Food-to-go is likely to be a major area of growth in the coming years and so we have made this a focus,” he added. “We want to encourage our customers to use the very best ingredients on the market to create food-to-go products that are well presented, healthy and on trend.”
