Record orders at Fairway ‘Meet the Member’ event

Deals worth more than £900,000 were struck at Fairway Foodservice’s latest ‘Meet the Member’ event, which was held at Villa Park in Birmingham.

The record figure beat the previous highest of £704,000 in March last year.
The two-day show attracted 43 suppliers pitching for business with the group’s 19 member wholesalers.

The speed-dating format consisted of 20-minute slots involving over 100 new products and special offers.

Fairway’s chief executive Chris Binge said: “The fact that more than £900,000 worth of deals were concluded illustrates how important and impactful our Meet the Member events are.

“We constantly listen to member and supplier feedback and amend the format and logistics where possible. Everything we plan and deliver is with our members in mind.”

Manufacturers participating included Kellogg’s and Tetley and what is claimed to be the UK’s largest independent chocolate supplier HB Ingredients.

Tracey Hughes, HB’s foodservice account manager, commented: “This was the most successful event that we have conducted in foodservice over the past five years, not just in terms of the business transacted but also from members looking at NPD.”
