Tom Gittins appointed managing director of Confex

Tom Gittins has become managing director of Confex, replacing Nicky White who is stepping down after 25 years at the helm of the buying group.

Gittins (pictured), who was appointed director of Confex last year, said: “I look forward to leading Confex into the next phase of our evolution in our 48th year. These are exciting times for the wholesale industry, and with our dynamic, forward-thinking members and dedicated head office team, we are well placed to capitalise on the rapidly changing marketplace.”

White added: “I’m happy to hand over the reins to Tom and the brilliant team we now in place have at Confex. I’m also looking forward to spending more time with my grandchildren.”

Confex Buying Group has more than 240 members across the UK with a £2.76 billion turnover, and it represents more than 200 suppliers. Confex has welcomed 31 new members to the group this year so far.
